Here is one example of the Cuban salsa from Yoandi’s and Diana’s workshop and social dance.
You can see the difference between this type and line type of salsa (which I’ve shown in the previous articles). This style is danced more in a circular pattern. They are usually not doing fast spins and there is a lot more body movement and Cuban folklore involved. It is a very playful style of dance.
Also, in the first video, around 1:23, you can see Yoandi throwing a vacunao. This is an erotic movement that symbolizes sexual penetration. It is a game of seduction, a game in which the man wants to throw his seed and make the woman pregnant so she has to defend herself. That is a vacunao. So, yeah, if you asked yourself, why would she covering her parts… Well, now you know.
